Quality for Senior Living is Industry’s Top Priority

Recently Argentum announced an initiative, Senior Living IQ that includes 7 Principles for the Senior Living Industry.  Underwritten by Willis Towers Watson, the initiative sets industry guidelines and recommendations for providing quality care to  senior living residents.

Here is the list of 7 Principles suggested by Senior Living IQ:

  1. The senior living industry has a unique opportunity to be a proactive leader in raising the bar and investing in quality for senior living.
  2. Certain high-risk components of senior living make the industry vulnerable and warrant additional attention.
  3. The senior living industry supports state regulation and enforcement to ensure quality of care and quality of life for all residents.
  4. Providing excellent care should not be restricted to meeting state laws and regulations.
  5. Industry self–regulation will demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement in quality care in senior living.
  6. Consumer confidence in senior living depends on a united front by all senior living stakeholders to invest in quality.
  7. Investing in senior living quality will improve quality for all residents, employees, and family members and prevent federal oversight and onerous state regulations.

Scoop Plate agrees with these principles.  Five of the seven exemplify the reason we started our company in the first place  –  to offer a beautiful, artisan crafted adaptive plate to persons otherwise using the ugly plastic option that is prevalent in the marketplace.

When industry professionals have seen our pottery scoop plate, overwhelming response is talk of quality – “So much better than the plastic things we have now.”   “Residents would no longer feel ‘less than’ at the shared dinner table;  they would feel special.”

Indeed, the comments capture perfectly Scoop Plate’s goal – to add quality to a person’s mealtime!  Think about your loved one.  What difference could this totally functional and totally beautiful plate to his/her life?
